Spontaneous travel..... October 2018
I got am email about 25 free things to do in San Francisco. I mentioned it and was overwhelmed by the response. Several people at coffee that morning had never been to San Francisco. That’s how we started. And this was our trip.
We flew into Oakland and drove up Highway 1 to Point Arena. 90 miles on Highway 1 took us all afternoon. One S curve after another. Then U turns and W turns??? OMG.... the scenery was beautiful, driving along the coast but it was a slow curvy drive.

| Redwoods not far from the Light House. They were not big enough to drive a car through -- but these were pretty big and the area smelled so lush. None of us had ever seen a Redwood tree. |

| Finally on the 4th day we made our way back to San Francisco to see the Golden Gate Bridge. This was taken from Baker Beach. No Fog today!! It was beautiful afternoon. Bodega Bay -- It was a nice little town. Right on the coast highway. The Alfred Hitchcock movie, The Birds was filmed here back in 1963. On our second evening we settled into our little cottage and the movie "The Birds" was playing on one of the local channels. Gave us a new perspective when we stopped and visited Bodega Bay on our way to San Francisco. |
